Description: In Ortho-Bionomy we work with posture to engage a more comfortable and functional way of being in our bodies. Posture expresses our identity, our energies, nervous systems, and is influenced by the work and play we engage in. It reflects our past and present and is dynamic and individual, with its own set of rhythms that can be employed with post-technique movements.

Post-techniques refer to techniques we use during or after an Ortho-Bionomy session, to help re-educate the structural integrity of the spine, pelvis and ribcage.  By finding the natural rhythms in the body we also support that re-education process. In Ortho-Bionomy we don’t seek visual symmetry or what we think the body should do, but rather, go with the direction of ease that the body presents, to find a more functional posture that creates proprioception, inner connection and integration.

We work with the three natural curves of the spine to make sure the entire spine speaks to itself, there is enough space for the organs, good circulation and nutrition, and a sense of all our dimensions and available movement.

In this class we will:
  • Identify and work with the natural curves of the spine.
  • Work with weight bearing and its mechanics
  • Work with movement of the pelvis
  • Work with integrating Posture and Post-Techniques into Ortho-Bionomy basic techniques and practice.
  • Work with spinal patterns such as scoliosis, kyphosis and lordosis.

Completion of this required class awards the attendee 16 hours (16 CEs) Ortho-Bionomy instruction. NCBTMB Approved Provider #100176.

Equine Body Balance:
Heal Equine Trauma Through Bodywork

Canby, Oregon (Near Portland, OR)

$375 Early Bird savings to 5/13/2020

Limited class size!
Description: Whether human or accident caused, a horse doesn't need to remain triggered by trauma forever. We may never know the entire story of why a horse is holding trauma in his/her body, but we can work with the symptoms that present themselves through careful observation, palpation and calming techniques.

We will begin with the way the horse presents, what she is capable of, to begin the process of unraveling the mystery of what tension the body is holding.

We will work with the self-corrective response in the horse to restore natural rhythms, change respiration, empower movement, diminish flight/fright reflex and much more.

We will work with specific trauma responses as they arise. Affected areas may include:

  • Head and neck
  • Cervicothoracic
  • Ribcage
  • Thoracolumbar
  • Lumbosacral
  • Sacroiliac
  • Coccygeal
  • Limbs

Techniques may include:
  • Basic Ortho-Bionomy techniques
  • Identifying patterns
  • Restorative walking exercises
  • Reinforcing equine rhythms
  • Breath work in the ribs and diaphragm
  • Increasing global awareness in the practitioner
  • Disengaging the practitioner from the trauma response

Completion of this class awards the attendee 16 hours (16 CEs) elective Ortho-Bionomy instruction. NCBTMB Approved Provider #100176.
